Constipation Home Remedies
Constipation is an ailment that plagues everyone at some point in their life. It happens with the elderly, infants, and adults. There are natural home remedies that you can use to help relieve constipation.
If you are experiencing symptoms such as stomach pain, infrequent bowel movements (at least once a day), or the feeling of incomplete bowel evacuation, chances are that you are suffering from symptoms of constipation.
Alot of people result in using laxatives as a remedy in eliminating constipation. However, laxatives have been found to have side effects, and should be avoided at all costs. It has been proven that laxatives can be addictive and can make your body dependent on them for bowel movements. Laxatives are also a temporary solution and don't get rid of constipation at the root of the problem.
There are home remedies that you can use to get rid of these symptoms and help cleanse your colon. Here are few tips and suggestions you can use to help relieve your symptoms.
1. There are certain foods you can eat that help relieve constipation in your colon. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables including peas, carrots, apples, oranges, and any other foods that are high in fiber. Fiber increases your regularity and makes it easier to have more complete bowel movements. We suggest eating these high fiber fruits and vegetables for about 2-3 months. Pears are great for consuming high fiber as well.
2. Another home remedy you can use is try drinking a warm glass of milk before bed. If you're suffering from a severe case of constipation, try adding two teaspoons of Castor oil into the milk.
3. Flaxseed oil has been a proven constipation remedy. Try take one or two tablespoons with lots of water immediately after lunch or dinner.
4. Drinking lemon juice with warm water two times a day works well. If you don't have lemon juice, try to find aloe gel. You can also take 1 or 2 teaspoons of that daily as well.
5. Chew your food thoroughly. Chewing your food completely is probably one of the easiest home remedies for constipation. By not chewing your foods properly, your body can have a hard time digesting them. This can clog up your intestines and make it difficult to have a bowel movement.
6. Drink lots of water. It is recommended that you consume 8 glasses of water a day. It can be even better if your body consumes fresh juices as well.
7. Maintain a physical exercise program. Even a stroll out in the park can help relieve symptoms of constipation.
8. Try only eating when you're hungry and allow at least 4 hours in between meals. Remember to stick to a healthy diet that includes fruits and vegetables that are high in fiber.
