Constipation is a situation where a person has uncomfortable or infrequent bowel movement in 1 week. Constipation means that your stool moves slowly in your large intestine. Because of this, too much water gets absorbed, making the stool hard.

If you’re going to the bathroom less than three times a week, that’s a sign of constipation. Hard and dry stools are also common clues. If you strain during bowel movements, feel pain in your belly, or think you’re not done, you might be constipated. Sometimes, a blockage in your rectum can cause these symptoms too.
